Hello, I'm new here and I got a Rebel T3i for Christmas. I have wanted to do photography for many years but haven't really had the time or cash to put into it. This year I finally got to get started, and figured I'd post a couple photos taken. I am by no means a pro, nor do I have illusions of becoming one, but I like taking photos and I am willing to learn how to get better at it.

A great year of learning. Can't wait to see what next year brings, photography wise

    Welcome to the forum Jeff,
congrats on your new hobby. I started the same way about a year ago. I agree with Mike, you have come to the right place. One of the best things I did in 2012 was joining TDP community

All, great shots in this thread! Happy 2013 to all of us!

I feel the same way for my photographic endeavors! With this group I have a place to share and receive critique/criticism of my photos and it is great!

It looks like a few of you had a great year. 2012 was the wettest year on record in the UK, with one of the coldest summers ever recorded, so I didn't do as much photography as I wanted to. My solution was to book a trip to Chile, including the Atacama desert which is the driest place on earth. Here are my top five for last year:

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of heights, but that photo made my stomach drop a little bit.
