RING LIGHT
I just purchased a Ray Ring light for macro work and special portraits.
I attach the ring light to a 580EXII and using manual settings.
I interested in any pointers that this group might have.
Things I think I know:
The further the subject is from the background the larger the rim shadow.
I am working with the subject about 3 feet from a white back ground.
Still trying to find the magic to create a catch light.
I chose the Ray brand because it is so easy to set up and attach.
No power supply and no additional settings.
Macro I an just experimenting with manual flash setting.
I am thinking of trying to find way soften the light.
Any comments are encouraged.
Anyone using the Ring light for other types of shots?

Re: RING LIGHT
Is the ring flush (or close) with the end of the lens?
I think you have to get pretty close to your subject for catch lights to have much size..
Finally make sure you have high speed sync on for exposures faster than your normal max sync.
Got any setup or test shots?
