    Equine detail - eye study

    Canon 20D w/ 70-200mm f/4 non-IS

    Aperture priority, f/5.6 1/800 ISO 200 focal length: 131mm

This is a Peruvian Paso mare and the way the sun hit her amber eye and flaxen mane caught my attention. Captured in RAW and processed CS3. Despite the relatively shallow DOF, I thought the metal pipe fencing in the background was too distracting, so I used layers to completely blacken the background. The image has not been cropped. Thoughts?

Great composition, It looksinteresting with the fence darkened. Good contrast. My only wish is that you could tell it was a horse more easily. I think most people would guess it is, but you need to look at it for a while to figure it out.

    Thanks,

    Tom
