Does anyone know how to produce a time lapse?

I'd like to do a time lapse, and I know how to capture all the images using remote shooting in EOS utility, but what do I do with the pictures once they are on my computer? or is there some program (free) that can do it all for me?

What are you wanting to do with the photos? Time lapse video?

Yes, make a video at 24fps using photos as frames. unless this is not how a time lapse video is made.

There are a million different possible software workflows. One free solution is VirtualDub. Search google for "virtualdub timelapse" and you should get plenty of information on it.

I'm shooting a timelapse if a 1000 piece puzzle being solved. (Each 2 or 3 pieces I shoot a frame). I was planning to use mencoder to make it into a movie... haven't tried it yet, though.

Virtual Dub (freeware) can convert between a number of audio/video formats as well as take a bunch of sequentially numbered images and turn them into a movie. It should be exactly what you're looking for.

Edit: I see I should read all the replies first, rather than skimming them. Still, VD is good enough to be worth mentioning twice.

A friend of mine made this one with my pictures:

Maybe that helps you out. It's only only I think, not as a movie or what so ever. Good luck! Let me know if you've found a nice (free)program. Maybe I'll try more of these myself then

Hmm I get the feeling this vimeo is only to broadcast the file :P I'm not sure though... Sorry if I'm wrong here, I can't ask him, because he's in Australia at the moment..

    A little googling:

"Once you have all the screenshots, import all of them as a sequence inside Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere Pro, Camtasia, QuickTime Pro or any othervideo editor– just bring down the image transition time to 0.1 second (or less) and export the animation as a GIF or any video format. The results are always pretty amazing."

Thanks, I downloaded Virtualdub and it seems like it will work. I'm going to try this weekend by doing a puzzle.
