Absolutely amazing shot. I love the composition/cropping which is done perfectly, you have tons of talent. Was this shot handheld or on a tripod? Was that taken with the 100-400?

Heaps of Kudos!
So far, in my limited browsing of threads, I've seen more than just a few good shots
Good to be modest thought!
Good inspiration.

Re: Spring is in the Air!
Very Nice. Very inspirational. In your experience what is the closest you can get to the hummers without scaring them off. (I ask because I don't have a 400mm lens

Re: Spring is in the Air!
Hi gldi8r,
The minimum focus distant of the 400 f/5.6L is11.5ft (3.5m), so you can't get any closer than that with this lens. I used to shoot with the 70-200 f/2.8L IS and was able to get as close as 5 ft. You can get quite close to Hummingbird, but you have tomove slowlyand not make any sudden movement. The best thing to do is observing where the hummer normally comes to feed and then wait about 6-8 ft away. The bird may fly awayat firstbut if you patiently wait, it'll trust you andcome back. Make sure you don't wear bright color clothing. []

Fantastic picture, I really like the way you cropped the picture and the subtle motion of the wings!
