Great shots Nick and Vern. Looks like Joel has some competition again (oh, yeah, nice shots Joel!)

Just about 15 minutes ago the Red Headed Woodpecker made a visit to the set up .... a new species for me, also the spring migration is coming through as well because I had Rose Breasted Grosbeaks and a Summer Tanager.

Struggled with the light this morning. The background behind the perch was in the sun, but the perch was in the shade. Luckily the bird had a little patience with me to experiment - 5DMKIII, 840mm, f8, ISO1600, +2 1/3 stops over evaluative metering, better beamer w 600EX, -2/3 stops fill flash, cropped to 3000X3500. I'm not too sure about the result though. Too much flash?
These are from yesterday as well.....Rose Breasted Grosbeak and Summer Tanager

It was very overcast/shady today and I switched to the 1DX to see how it would handle the conditions.....the high ISO images really clean up so nice it is surprising. Much better than the 1D MKIV. My biggest wish is that I would like it to have the same pixel density as the 1DMKIV.
