The first one looks like a group of Wood Storks. The second is a Great Egret.

Took the 7D + 70-300L out to the forest. Nothing exotic, but I think they turned out half-decent. I also learned that f/5.6 isn't enough when next to a nuthatch, and focusing on the wing... so little DOF!

Birds in the forest will land on your hand? The ones around my feeder won't even land on it until I go back in the house. Nuthatches included. Maybe I smell bad?

Too many feeders and food sources in the city... and mean kids. In the forest you'll get swarmed if you have seeds.

No 2 I was unsure of this one but not believe it is a Sharp-shinned Hawk

I have gotten so I can find Snowy Owls easy enough, but it is difficult to find them on a decent perch. There preferred perch seems to be power poles. So it was nice yesterday to find this one on top of a dead limb. Even at 560 mm, it was cropped fairly heavily. I should have dropped the ISO a little also (live and learn).

    1D X
    EF 100-400mm f/4-5.6 L w/ a EF 1.4X II.
    560mm, f/8, 1/2000 sec, ISO 1250
