I love seeing Pheasant. Unfortunately, around here, every time I start seeing a few, we have a bad winter kill and I do not see any more for years.

That is a very nice flight image of the Male Pheasant.....well done!

It might be even better with a little more room all the way around the bird if you have it.

No cropping Joel, so nothing else there to add. Sometimes when I go out with the 400 things just fly too close, but nearly every time I take the 500 out they fly even closer.

I really like the "frozen" wing type pictures because of the details you never get to see and it still amazes me that it's possible to get such an image but here's one I took recently of a HB that perched on the wire right above my suet cage on a cloudy morning when I was trying to image Goldfinches.

nice shot of a good looking male Joel. If you like the frozen HB look Joel check out Roy Dunn's hummingbird work....impressive.

Here's a pic I caught yesterday....I'm getting closer to the Iron Cross pose I've envisioned for the back lighting capture.



Although I'm starting to think 1/80th (this shot) is too slow for consistently good sharpness of the head and eye. f8, ISO 400, 500 and x1.4
