I had very nice light late this afternoon to try out the 7D MKII .... the extra "reach" and increased pixels on the subject can be seen in this picture of a Mourning Dove.

Thanks. I am using a single point with AI servo surround. I move the focus point around manually for each shot.

to much focal length ? this is the first time i have had to much lens lol. i had just put the 1.4 extender on my lens when this guy showed up. he would have just filled the frame without the extender . DANG !

Stu....nice crisp shot. Unsolicited suggestion; make this into a portrait shot of the Downy. Tighten up the left, right, and bottom framing to highlight the foot and head. If you have some space above its beak, loosen the framing to give a little more space between the tip of the beak and the top framing.

Could you have rotated the camera to portrait and got him in the shot without spooking him?

That is the nice thing about the lens collar... a quick turn of the knob to loosen the collar, twist the camera to portrait, tighten collar, and you are ready to go.

Well i could have if i hadnt put the camera on the gimbal backwards lol. I could barely get my hand between it and the lens to work the knob. I have been thinking of gettin one of those mounts that go on the side with no big bracket in the way.
