Explains the decline in squirrel population.

Hard lighting, jacked the shadows and highlights up and down, etc. Also figured out why the shutter counts get high on the 1dx. Also learned that I should use AEB in smaller steps. There are couple more on Flickr -- they look a bit over processed. Clearly the one w/ an eye highlight is the "winner"

Lastly this was 1 tree over from the eagle shot - I was standing on my dock for both.

Thanks....I have been adjusting and working on my set up for several years now to get things lined up for good backgrounds but I do not use any artificial backgrounds. I am jealous of your Owl images ... we have Owls around here but they are super elusive ... I have zero Owl images

The late afternoon sun reflecting off the snow was great for getting rid of shadows under the wings.

Beautiful capture Stuart....where'd you go to capture this GGO.
I was just up there, Thur, Fri, and left Saturday. We spent our time in Chateauguay at the Refuge faunique at Marguerte-D'Youville. We arrived mid-afternoon Thurs, but they were too far away. Returned on Friday morning, but didn't get any relatively close shots until about 1p....long day standing in the cold temp with strong winds and harsh light.
We did get a few shots that are ok, but don't compare to your capture....again congrats Stu.
I should have PM'd you that we were coming up....maybe could have gotten together....lately, I'm just brain dead.
    Bill
