50D with battery grip question

I set my camera on its left side, this allows me to quickly grab the grip and shoot. With the 500 f/4 I just let the combo sitting on the lens hood and grab the camera grip to pull the camera to my eye level. Your camera/lens mounts are a lot stronger than you think.[]

Thanks for the comments and suggestions! I've ordered the Zagg and will not worry so much about how it is "resting."
