mattsartin is nice! The DOF makes sure you see the athlete first, and the vanishing point serves a purpose. Still there, but blurry, it really pushes the athlete forward in the picture. Creative, functional and nice to look at. And not the 500.000th road picture.

I vote for that one. It's a cut above the rest: which is beautiful and fun and cool and everything, but mattsartin takes vanishing point to another level compared to the other submissions.

Thank you I appreciate the compliment! I actually won a competition at IU Southeast with this picture. It was just a spontaneous thing too, taken of a guy a run with one night, everyone else has nice work too

My gosh, they're all fantastic. I actually only own one lens, and it happens to be a 300 f/4 so I can't really participate in most of these assignments. Lensrentals.com, here I come!

Anwho, I will second that, very nice image Matt. Different from the rest, next time try one at f11 to get a full depth of field.

Dare I say it: no. That would effectively ruin the photograph. With current DOF intact all info needed remains visible in the picture yet the DOF is functional for it lierally puts the focus on the main subject. The blurred background is still very very very recognisable and the vanishing point in the blurred section is actually fully functional AND it serves as a means to further push the main subject forward into the picture so to say.

Dont change anything. Keep doing what you are doing. My 2c. (A hundred people, a hundred opinions LOL)
