Assignment 7: Slow it Down -- Congratulations travischance

Welcome to Assignment 7: Slow it Down, courtesy of Matt Sartin. The idea here is exposures of 1 second or longer. The image can be anything as long as your shutter was open for one second. This promises to be a cool thread.

I will leave this open till Friday of next week, so just about two weeks.

I am also cutting the judges to one judge, because I had a hard time finding a second, and didn't want it to be me always judging. So judging also courtesy of mattsartin this time.

We have a finalists list! There are 8 selections this time. As usual voting is at the bottom. Congratulations to the 8, but also to all of the pictures, they were really good.

    -----------------------------

CONGRATULATIONS travischance on winning this assignment with a very creative shot. All the pictures were excellent, and you can see the runners-up below the poll!

I guess I'll kick this one off for a change! This was at a carnival in my "back yard" the parking lot right behind my apartment. It is one of those centripetal force rides that pin you to the sides as it goes. I used an eye-bolt and 12ft piece of rope tied to it and run under my foot as a makeshift monopod. XTi, 28-105/3.5-4.5 @ 63mm, f/9.0 ISO 100 1sec. (barely qualifies) I was kinda bummed I cut off part of it, but still a neat abstract picture.

I haven't done long exposure photography for about a year now, I haven't got the time anymore and it's a real shame because it's highly enjoyeble to do and the resaults are very rewarding, and I think it's my favorite kind of photography. But anyway! Here is an oldie!

Best contest until now! I look forward to the enteries!

    Good luck everyone!

I can see you all aren't going to make this judging easy on me! This is my favorite long exposure.

My share for this assignment []

    1000D EF-S 18-55 3.5-5.6 IS @ 50mm, f/16, 25 sec, ISO 200

This is my first try on light trails (I'm not sure if this would be similar to shooting fireworks). This was a big truck speeding on the national highway with some cars joining the chase. I got lucky to get the high lights of the truck pass through the lights of the lamp posts.

I'm sure there'll be more great photos on the way. []
    Cheers!

I don't often shoot at longer exposures...just can't find the time with a 2 1/2 yr old!!! But here is one I took while working late one evening. The cliffs above Seacliff Flats in Aptos, CA....

5D2, Zeiss 21 2.8, f8@30 sec, iso 800....here is a link to a larger one on my website. Ok, linking to bigger picture doesn't work...but copy and paste does. Sorry!
