    I'm also curious about what his interviewee has to say about feeding wild birds, and bird feeders. In the UK, we're actively encouraged to do this. It has been proven to be affecting one bird species' migration to such an extent that there are signs of speciation occuring between the birds who are keeping to the original migration route and the birds who are staying in the UK to take advantage of bird feeders. In the BBC article I read about this, the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) hailed this as a good thing and encouraged people to continue feeding birds.


    But then again, the UK is so much more built-up than North America, particularly in the more fertile south of England. So perhaps there's just less space for birds to forage for their own food.
