    Hot Air Balloons

Here are some shots I took testerday at a local balloon rally. Over the years I have probably taken over a thousand shots of balloons, but can't seem to grab the perfect shot. When shooting balloons, there are so many challenges; the shear size of the balloons, lighting, harsh shadows, bright sky, ground clutter etc. If anyone has suggestions for capturing these ballons, I am all ears.

The Space shuttle balloon always seems to be a crowd favorite, it is amazing to see up close and personal.

I'd imagine it would be difficult getting the right light depending on which way they're taking off etc. Looks like early morning though so the light in really good where you've got it from the right direction.

I'm a big fan of the last shot actually. I like the negative space to the right of frame - it seems to express the freedom you get ballooning.

My only suggestion for that shot might be to slightly crop to adjust the angle of the balloon so it is perfectly vertical. Also you could clone out the spec of dust in the lower right side. Just my thoughts anyway.

    Good stuff. [Y]

Thanks Mr. B. Good suggestions. I did notice the dirt this morning which prompted a cleaning of all my lenses, sensors, even the cases. Guess I could take 10 seconds to clone the dirt off of the photo.

    Thanks Again
