    7D Video Settings? .... baby steps

    Takin' it on the head trying to learn how to shoot video with the 7D. [:'(]

    What I think I know:

    Shoot in manual .... everything.

    Daytime w/plenty of sunlight

    * Use ND filter
    * WB in "Sunny" mode or manual WB if educated.
    * Manual focus at infinty
    * 60p
    * 125th shutter speed
    * f-stop between f8 and f22 depending on brightness
    * ISO @ 100 (Higher at dawn patrol, evening sesh or cloudy conditions).
    * Evaluative metering
    * Picture style setting @ Neutral (sharpness one stop short of all the way left, contrast one stop short of all the way left, saturation 0, color tone 0). I'm sure we are all still trying to dial this one in? :[*-)]

    Did I get anything wrong or miss anything?

    What I'm not sure about (besides everything above...lol):

    1. Is a ND filter advisable if exposure can be controled without it?
    2. 60p or 24p .... Can a fast enough shutter speed be used correctly with 24p? ... how fast of a shutter speed can be used with 60p & 24p and still look smooth? I'm guessing 60p is the prefered frame rate for fast motion subjects?
    3. How fast is too fast of a shutter speed?
    4. Does the AF mode even matter if the 7D is set in Manual focus at infinty? I ask because I also want to shoot stills while videoing.
    5. When I pull the trigger for a still shot while videoing, where does it get its command for the seperate file from? .... how do you make sure the settings for that still shot are set where you want them?

    Sorry for the lengthy post, but I'm rackin myself before a trip to El Salvador. Wanna get it right.

    Thanks to anyone willing to help []

    .... oh,btw ... shooting with the Essex surf housing/16-35 L lens.... and from the beach with a Canon 100-400 L lens.
