    One died so another could live. The Grebe and the Smelt



    40D, 400 f/5.6L, Aperture Priority, f/5.6, 1/1250, ISO 800 taken at Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve in Huntington Beach, CA


    This is an eared grebe and its usual meal, smelt. Please feel free to let me know what you like and dislike about this image.

    Nice shot. I love the pose and subject, although something looks off color wise--perhaps a little bit too much contrast? Would you mind posting the original?

    I darkened theaboveimage to .5 stop in DPP, resized, added the border and USM 130% and .5 Radius in CS2


    Here is the original straight from the camera.40D, 400 f/5.6L, Aperture Priority, f/5.6, 1/1250, ISO 800, +2/3 Exp. Comp.

    great shot! I really like the composure, and the additional contrast is welcome. I do think it looks a tadover-sharpenedthough.
