    Hello from Birmingham, Alabama

Hi everyone, as a long time user of the digital picture site, I'm glad to see the forum is available! This will be a great place for Canon admirers to hang out!

As an introduction, I'm from the Birmingham area and shoot industrial historic sites, railroads and current industry. Like many other photogs, nobody has to twisrt my arm to shoot sunsets, flowers, animals and the occasional portrait either. I'm looking forward to seeing the work the talented members here are cranking out!

Since my specialty is Birmingham's historic iron ore mines, here is a shot I'd like to share with ya'll. Its aview of anabandoned Republic Steel ironore mine slope that dates back to 1915.

Welcome! I've been coming to this site for years too and just noticed the thing about the Forums which I think will be a great addition.

Your photo of the Mine is very cool... I like a lot!

Welcome! My uncle gives historic tours of Birmingham as a volunteer, and one of his sons was the assistant curator of the Sloss Museum. With your permission, I'd like to send him a link this picture you took.

Cool. Please send him the link. Also, here's my flickr link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/district_history_fan/There's a good bit more of my Birmingham history shots in the sets there. I'm reshooting many of the images because, honestly, I can make them better nowadays. Maybe he'll like what I have online currently though.

Here's another sample shot... Boiler house stacks at Republic Steel's Thomas Works.
