<p class="MsoNoSpacing"]I am going to helping with a photography project,
photographing churches throughout my state.<span>
The photography will all be done in B&W.<span> The widest prime in my kit is the 35 1.4L.<span> Some of the church sites I have been to, the
35 1.4L is a little too long with the available space to photograph the church (this
lens is mounted to a 1Ds III or 5D).<span> The
photography is typically exterior, but sometimes there are unique interior
elements that will need to be photographed. <span>I am considering either the 24 1.4L II or the
14 2.8L II, as the next addition.<span> I do
not know anything more about these two lenses (other than what I have read in
the reviews).<span> Both seem to be strong

I love my 24mm II, and it works pretty good for churches; however, if I was going to get a prime specifically for architecture, I would get one of the TS-E lenses, like the 17mm. Another possibility if you haven't considered it already is to get a panoramic tripod head like the Nodal Ninja and use stitching to build wide angles from multiple shots. That lets you use a very high quality prime lens (even telephotos, like a 100mm macro), but the downside is motion in the frame and extra post processing work.

Although I do not have one, lots of good things are being said about the Zeiss 21mm lens as well.

However, if you are going to use a lens indoors, the 24mm f/1.4 is going to do better in low light than a slower lens.

My personal favorite is the 14mm but technically speaking the 17 tse is the right choice.

Thank you for the extra ideas! I have not considered the TSE 17. The TSE 17 appears to be a good lens according to this site. Do the other users agree with the review? I am a member of Canon's CPS program, and I have a this lens requested for evaluation. I have never used a TSE lens (the lens is available from Canon, I do not yet know the evaluation period but would like to maximize my learning curve with the lens before I return it) . Can anyone provide some suggestions and pointers on how the TSE lens actually works . I can see in the review on this site that the TSE 17 has a range of settings, but I am going into uncharted waters.
