Which photography books do you recommend?

<p class="first"]I am looking to read a few more books on photography -- both on the art of photography and on technique. I have read the Scott Kelby books, Exposure by Jeff Wignall and The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman.
<p class="last"]What else would you recommend? Thanks!

There's a book called "Light: Science and Magic" that I really like, really useful as it explains the behaviour of light and why we get the results we do.

Also, "The Moment it Clicks" is a good all-around tips and tricks book by Joe McNally and, while I don't own this one, "The Hot Shoe Diaries" is filled with strobist techniques.

    Hope this helps,

    Bogdan

Anything by Bryan Peterson is excellent. He has a very good writing style, and always includes detailed information on each picture to show how he did it. His main books are "Understanding Exposure" (a new edition is just out), "Understanding Shutter Speed", and "Understanding Close-up Photography". He's an incredibly creative photographer... it's worth reading his books just for the ideas they can generate.

Anything by Ansel Adams. Even though (or perhaps particularly since) it is not digital, and only black and white. Great inspiration and true art.

I see you already read The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman, that's one of the first I recommend. Next would bePhotography, 10th edition, by London and Upton

Michael Freeman's Perfect Exposure is also quite good. Also, if you're interested in flash photography,NK Guy'sMastering Canon EOS Flash Photography.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. This, I feel, is much more useful than trolling Amazon's lists. Now I have to choose which one to read first. []
