Would you post the EXIF info please? I have taken photos with the 135L on a 40D hand held, and was able to get really nice shots, so I wonder if it may be caused by some sort of settings confusion? i usually leave my settings to the single shot option istead of the others maybe this will help?

Try a different metering mode. Spot or partial, especially with the bright background of the snow

It appears to me that the various MA settings I have tried (and I've tried them all) don't even make sense. A lower # shows more backfocusing than a higher #!?

Here's what I just took inside. Excuse the quickly thrown together setup! All were shot on tripod, Satechi remote shutter control, Liveview 10x, focused from infinity. Focus point is the 2nd battery fromthe left side.

+7 appears more back-focused than +8!? If you click on the photo you can see larger views in flickr.

Should I continue with trying to micro-adjust or send back for another copy or refund?

Thanks for looking! I am only able to do this because my house is under quarantine due to the flu bug [] I can't even see my grandkids for the holidays! [:'(]

Are you using Live View to adjust the AF Microadjustment?

And are you using Mirror Lock Up?

    Denise,

How did you adjust the focus limiting switch on the left side of the lens barrel. Make sure that it is set appropriately for MFA and shooting. I
