    Ballooning last summer

Shot over a nearby neighborhood very early in the morning. The light was at such a low angle most of the houses are still in shadows.

Nah, but if I could get that close from outer space I'd probably own the greatest lens ever.

Cool shot. I also did this last year and it's a breathtaking experience.

    Tim,

I've never been ballooning but I hear it is amazingly quiet, when the gas isn't burning. I would imagine that especially early in the morning this would be true. I like the shot, it is not a perspective the one will see frequently.

I also have a 30D and am thinking about getting the 17-40 as my walk around lens. I'm an amateur so cost is an issue for me. I think it will fill out my set up well, but I would like to hear what you think about it.

I currently have the kit lens, 50 1.8 II, and 70-200 f4 non IS.
