Does
this function affect ONE SHOT mode?<span> The
manual notes it is only for AI SERVO but I get improved focusing on static
subjects with it DISABLEd.

was shooting a few winter birds in my Leather Viburnam and having difficulty
with auto focus due to the birds being buried in the bush.<span> There are many leaves surrounding and in
front of these buggers and the birds are very small in the view finder. <span>I have center point only selected but got
understandably erratic focusing.<span> So I
checked the menu system and manual and found this function.<span> So I went back out and shot a few experiments
and the focusing performance definitely improved with this function DISABLEd.

You know what assumptions do, right - they make an ass out of, well...someone...but not you.

I certainly consider it a legitimate question, and have no problem with you posting on multiple forums to elicit answers from a different user base.

BTW, as I understand it, that C.Fn setting should have no effect on One Shot, and are only activated in AI Servo (and probably AI Focus) modes.

Actualy, I never go to the fredmiranda site. I read the responses on that site and found them lacking.

When the OP posted this I was actualy interested in hearing some responses.

One would believe by reading the manual that these points only function when in AI Servo mode. But..... that is not what it specificaly says. It says when in AI Servo Mode these points will ALSO function. The word "Also" could mean several things, but it doesn

Thanx all for the encouragement folks. I was a bit surprised by that response.

Back to camera geek stuff.

I did do a test of sorts and it is really easy for anyone to do and do quickly. I set my tripod up and aimed at a buried branch in my Viburnum bush. The reason I note the plant name is that if you are familiar with this plant in winter, it is not dense as you can see from pulling down one of my RAW pics above. It is what I think is a perfect test for this other than setting something up in studio. I set the tripod up in the same spot where I took these pics and used the same focal length of 200mm so the test is roughly comparable to the situation you see in the RAWs.
