was on my back porch yesterday after a small storm went through, i saw this and ran for my camera!

only lasted for about 40 seconds but i'm glad i at least got this shot, it was a very interesting phenomenon, looked like a hole in the sky was sucking up the surrounding clouds!

I still don't have much time for photography, but I got this shot early this morning with my R6 and RF 100-400, on my balcony.

Pierre, I feel your pain --- out here the mountains block my view too

Seriously though, great shot. I love the light and misty clouds. You should toss this in the weekly contest!

Sorry for the late reply Jonathan. Thanks for the nice comments. I'm definitely lucky, even if I can't go hiking in the mountains as often as I'd like to nowadays...

Work trips are coming back around. The week before last was meetings and a presentation in France and then Germany.

With photography not being the focus, there are only a few others that I think will be worth posting.

But Monday morning meetings means you have Sunday night and here are a few from a walk along the Seine.

Overall, a good trip, nice to get out again, but a bit rough on sleep. My watch did not register any sleep for 3 of the 6 nights.

    Anyway, thanks for viewing...Brant

Brant, I think we we in France about the same time, but for me this was a long-postponed (Covid) trip to celebrate retirement. NO meetings!

We used Arles as a base for side trips, but it is a charming place in its own right. There was a festival in the main square to celebrate VE Day while we were there. Old vehicles and group dances with a DJ and some pros helping the people on stage.

Arles is also where some famous Van Gogh paintings happened. One cafe is still trading on that.

No way I would try a starry night from the Rhone embankment, but here is a sunny afternoon from roughly the same view as Van Gogh's "Starry Night."

    Hey Danny,

Yep, we were there at the same time. Glad you finally had the chance to take your retirement celebration trip. While I enjoyed being over there, I am sure you had more fun.

    Nice set of images!

    More from Provence

I hadn't posted many photos with people from the trip to France.

First is a fashionable woman scooting down the street where we stayed in Arles.
In the US it seems I mainly see the very young and the very casual (like wearing a hoodie) on an electric scooter.

And then folks enjoying a fine afternoon at the beach in Cassis.

Ha. The first one does crack me up a bit. The second has a classic/vintage feel to it. Nice!
