I'm back from another great journey to the far north, up to Spitsbergen Norway. We went there two years ago and were so enthralled by the place that we had to go again. I'm still sifting through the mound of photos but here's one that jumped out early on. The bear sightings were very good, and we even had one come up close to the ship while we were parked in the ice. There was a suggestion a while ago about starting a thread dedicated to photo adventures, and I'd like to kick that off in the coming days once I get all caught up. Stay tuned!

Nice shot Jonathan. I think we're all glad that you brave the cold, so we don't have to.

Ha ha thanks! As you can tell I don't mind the cold, and enjoy a good challenge. But I'm hoping to inspire a few others to do the same, as opposed to hiding indoors when it's cold out. Especially someone like you who has to put up with some pretty cold days in Ottawa!

Due to the thunderstorms that were out in front of Hurricane Arthur, the Portsmouth NH fireworks were rescheduled for July 5th. I was able to make it over to Badger Island to get a few shots.

All shots with the 5DIII, 24-70 II

We're filming some chemistry demos for use in high school chemistry classes. I brought along my new Sigma 120-300 so I could stand back out of the way and grab some stills. This is what happens when you ignite a very small, hydrogen-filled balloon.

Bill...next time. Actually...any time. My shots were taken from the Weathervane on Badger Island. My first time on Badger Island. Great spot.

More fun. This is a tiny piece of potassium (think appleseed) dropped into a bowl of water.

    Canon 7D, Canon EF-S 10-22 @ 10mm f1/16, 1/8 seconds, CPL + ND Filter

Anemone Cave - The trek in was difficult as the rocks were slimy and covered in seaweed but the occasional hardened anemone covered rock served as a good grip. I'm happy with the outcome but next month or September I'm going to attempt this again in hopes to get a more color sunrise. What a place, I never knew that this existed.
