This was just a messing around shot and was not really intended to be a Best Current Shot... I upgraded my primary macro lens to the 100L and will be selling my other macros. I picked it up from UPS last night and was taking some photos around the house last night.

I liked this one enough to post it to Flickr and 73 favorites later it's my 5th to make Explore.

I post this here because actually... is one of my favourite shot. I spent more time on this one - to make it look as it was for me in the little window of time when i captured it - than on any other picture.

The problem is that i don't have a calibrathed monitor so i'm here to ask to all of you - what do you think about it? You see "good" colors? There is something you would do to improve it?

I'll take a bit more time to think about this picture - that is very important for me - before i'll post it in the weekly contest :-p

    A note about this picture:

I'm from Florence and i love my city. Piazzale Michelangelo is probably the best known place in Florence where to shoot sunset pictures, is just... born for it. And for that, i like going there looking for something unusual.

When i got this "frame", i tried a few angles just a second before the crowd killed any sort of composition.

But this frame, i spend more time on it - making it looking as it was for me than any other picture i got until now.

    Their own everlasting sunset.

    Andrea,

The image is great. The colors are very nice, but the sunset is secondary to the people IMHO.

    "hidden" lake

This suburban lake has been getting clogged with lily pads the past few years. The city has now started to remove most of the lily pads in mid summer. The before and after, taken about 2 weeks apart, interested me as a subject.

Wonderful composition of the shot of Firenze. I also feel the people make this shot special.

Going off on multiple tangents simultaneously can lead one in totally unexpected directions. Hoping to get some feedback.

Nice shot JRW! It looks like a lot of work went into the post process aspect of it. The fade out to the textured background is interesting.

I learned a desatured cinema look technique today and came up with the image below from a World War II re-enactment from a couple years ago.
