I think the setup you have and plan on using sounds really great, especially since you can place yourself where you want. Only way you could improve it is if you had a 70-200 f2.8II. I think the 200mm should be plenty long enough for this and so the 100-400 would probably not be necessary.

    good luck

Have you checked light levels? f/4 seems like it will bea challenge if light is low. I find that even f/2.8 is a bit limiting in dimly lit arenas where a fast shutter speed is required. IS is of no benefit where movement is involved. I kept shutter speeds to 1/1000 sec for moving shots, so ISO was 1600, sometimes 3200. It all depends on the light level. I might have barely managed with a 70-200mm f/2.8L, but would have missed some shots due to low light, or risked blur by cutting shutter speed.

I took my 135mmL and my 35mmL to a monster jam show to photograph a friend, and found that with my 5D MK II, the lens was too long. I had to use the 35mmL. I was thinking I needed a longer lens and had some long ones along, including my 70-200 f4L IS, but there was not enough light for it to allow fast shutter speeds.

I wish I had brought my 50mm f1.4 and my 85mm f 1,8, but I was thinking a long focal length was needed.
