Nifty Fifty--What are your thoughts?

Like you, the 50mm f/1.4 and the 100mm Macro L were on mt list.


I got the 50mm first,...and really like it. It doesnt AF very fast (I'm an "L" user) but for low light


it is nice. Affordable and sharp at f/2 and smaller. I did order a lensalign MK II with mine and found


a -6 autofocus micro adjustment needed on my 5DII coupled with it. great little lens,..

Yes, I have read about the slow or inconsistant AF--But I cant really expect L performance from a $300 lens---I would really like to, but I can't--I am thinking that Ican tolerate the slower af, then the rest should be ok---especially for the $1000 price difference I am pretty sure I can compromise a little []--especially for something I won't use very often.
