I don't have a hood for this lens, but the lens cap was on. Anyway, it is quite troublesome to fit a lens with the hood attached into my bag, and this probably happend in my bag. By the way, I dropped my Tamron 17-50 2.8 on a tiled floor with the hood attached. The hood took all the beating, but no damage to the lens, so I agree that a hood can be a good protection.

Gah. I knew I should have removed the filter before I surreptitiously hit your lens bag with a hammer. L-disease carriers like me are always looking out for new transmission vectors. []

I don't know the meaning of them horrible words. [] The only time I shoot without a hood is when I'm shooting with a matte box. []

The primary reason for me not using a lens hood is because I'm using a 77mm filter that requires a step-up ring to fit on one of my primes (did that this weekend for two separate shoots).

Perhaps the true meaning is "I secretly wish that the old lens gets
cracked so I have an excuse of buying L-glass". Anyway, an empty wallet
is a good vaccination against the L-disease. You should try it []
