Cannot download photos to my laptop

I have only downloaded photos from my camera to my computer only twice. And it has been a while since the last download. But, I thought it was a very simple task. Simply hook-up the cord to the camera and to the computer then turn on the camera. That is how I did it before. Simple! I researched it in my installed software for the 7D and the only thing that is different is to pull up the EOS utility screen. So, I did that and nothing.


Any suggestions?

I prefer to take the memory card out of the camera, put it in a card reader, then connect the card reader to the computer. You can buy a card reader for $10 - $40.


To transfer directly with the computer, try finding the "communication" mode setting in the camera and change it to "PTP" -- that is a more widely-compatible mode, and it should cause the camera to show up in "My Computer" (in Windows) or on your OS X desktop (if you use mac).
