@ChadS, I am not sure we should be selecting for you......but...while it may not be the sharpest, properly exposed and technically superior picture.... 8711 is just really cool...IMO...
@HD It's impossible for me to fairly evaluate these images from a technical point of view. All of them were shot at meaningful moments and I see those moments when I look at the picture. The first one is horribly noisy because it was shot without a flash in a poorly lit room. My mother-in-law's Nook is providing the illumination of his face. I love this shot yet I know the quality ... sucks. So I'm asking for some advice on which of the 8 shots to submit.
@ChadS, I thought for a meaningful moment 8711 nails it. If it sounded like I was criticizing I wasn't, 8711 has the most interesting subject and composition of all you posted. It has a few things you could improve in post, but you won't be able to to correct it being a bit oof. To bad it is winter, I am sure it would be easy to duplicate the scene and get a few more shots if it were July
Heck, I live in Florida. We could reshoot the shot tomorrow. I do like 8711 as well though it is too bad it front-focused a bit. AI servo locked on the water moving and I was shooting a pretty thin DoF (for quick exposure time). I'm leaning to submitting 9507 as my entry. I like the natural illumination of his face with direct sunlight with the flat lighting from the clouds.
My submission, a picture of my neice entertaining herself with a pack of cards during our family Christmas party. Taken with the Sigma 8-16mm.
