    Heres a static shot with the 1DX 300mm f/2.8L IS +1.4X:

    Heres the cropped Version:

You can view them larger and clearer on Flickr which also contains the EXIF data.

Rich, got back from Yellowstone Saturday. I got a few close ups of a bear, elk and female big horn. I got some not close ups of a grizzly and Rams. A few times 500mm was way to much focal length and other times 500mm wasn't enough, and a few times it was just right.

I like the way the 1D X apparently handles the white bird and highlights in your photos. Did you draw the highlights out in post or was the camera able to handle it? Looks like it is doing a very good job.

I can't wait to see your shots and hear more about your trip. Yellowstone is certainly a photographers paradise!

I pulled the exposure down a bit in Aperture, but that's about it.

    Heres a burst, with the 1DX, 300mm f/2.8L IS + 1.4X @420mm!

Congrats, Rich! What a great test drive with the camera so far... I suspect you are loving the focus system and frame rate.

I just picked up the GPS gizmo for the 1DX, and I have to say it is very cool (and it cements my role as the uber-geek of the neighbourhood). This is my first time using an integrated GPS device with a camera, and I love how it gives you not only location but compass direction and elevation too. You can change the update frequency to preserve battery life... 15 second intervals seem the best compromise. Or you can shut it off completely if you're indoors for a while. I'm going on another trip shortly so this gizmo will be very handy.

I am thinking about selling all of my lenses but one and buying this camera. Amazing work being shown in this thread. Thanks you guys for keeping us up to date on your new toys!

@Thank You Joel, however, your shots already look like 1DX quality!

@Thanks Jonathan, I'm certainly enjoying the fast frame rate, quick focusing, and clean files, however one of the main reasons that I wanted this camera was to go full frame, so that narrowed it down to the 5DIII and 1DX and for my type of shooting, as well as the environments that I would like to shoot in, I thought that the 1DX would be perfect for me. The downside is that I did miss the extra reach of the MK IV 1.3 crop factor, but I think the improvements appear to worth it so far. The upside is that all of my medium lenses just became wider, so that is an added bonus too which feels like I just got a bunch of new lenses.

I would also like to try my luck with landscape photography, so I may hit you up for a few pointers.

@ Thanks Jason, The 1DX is certainly a dream camera, but keep in mind that you can probably get about 80% of the performance with the 7D and about 90% with the 1D-MKIV.
