#37 - Up Close and Personal (congrats cls)

On behalf of Nick (nickds7) here is assignment 37: Up Close and Personal

I'd like to see some of your up close and personal shots... Taking a photograph close up to the subject shows much more than a photo with just a tight crop. There's so much more attitude and personality to these close up shots that I just love... sometimes you can see the distortion of a lens, or the harshness of a close up flash, or just a mother holding her baby close.

" Amazing shots everyone!! I spent more time selecting these than I'd like to admit, but here are my selections. "

    Name: Kombi
Motivation: Very nice color, blacks and composition.

    Name: sambisu
Motivation: Very nice use of framing/lighting here. Nice b&w.

    Name: rlriii13
Motivation: I really like the pose, lighting and composition of this shot. The tilted frame and reflection in her eyes stand out.

    Name: ddt0725
Motivation: Nice black and white! The focus, eyes and bokeh are all very nice.

    Name: cls
Motivation: The framing, lighting and subject make this one great!

Congratulations to you all. The poll will be open to votes for 3 days. Good luck!

This should be cool, a non-macro close-up, nice one.
    Love that dog shot.

Perhaps I'll take one I like better before the challenge ends, but here's my first submission. I took this one tonight with the 60D and 28mm f/1.8 wide open. I had to use ISO 3200 to achieve 1/25 second!

The other day me and my colleagues at work had a summer party in and around a separately located barn. Of course there was some good food and beverages involved, and as we sat there (inside the barn due to some rain) we suddenly saw an uninvited guest that seemed interested in our food (or beverages, I don’t know). I don’t often see foxes in the wild, and the few times it’s happened before they’ve been very shy. This one was totally different – we basically had to chase her(?) away. For the inside snapshots I had the EF-S 10-22 and a flash on my 7D. This combo may not be typical for wildlife shots, but since she got very close I still managed to get some decent shots.

Wow, she must have been very hungry to get that close. Most foxes bolt at the first sign of humans. When we get one in the backyard, I have to hide behind the curtains and stick my camera lens through them to get a shot.
