Price of Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens

I have been tracking the price of Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens for quite some time and it has never gone down $2299.
I want to get it but I am not in any hurry, does any body seen the price lesser than $2299. Do you think during Christmas it might go down further?

Canon refurbished it's $1999. That's the only reduction I've seen.

True, but you pay sales tax through Canon Refurb, which is something like $140.00 on a $2000 lens; . That brings the savings down to just $160.00... For that, I'd just take a brand new lens for $2,299.00 while it is on a Canon rebate. Then there is shipping, which is not (I think) always free at Canon Refurb, but which is basically always free through B&H or Adorama, etc....

I am not sure about your location but Since I live in Australia I use DWI for Import lenses. They are based out of Hong Kong (I Think)

Back in April, it was $1600 shipped from Canon's refurb store.
Words get in the way of what I meant to say.

I got mine last December for $1974 and have not seen it at that price since. If you can wait till December, they might run a rebate again, but who knows.

I heard it somewhere that you cannot take picture with a lens you are thinking about buying...or something like that.

IMO, the hidden costs of refurb (shipping/taxes) drive he overall cost up toward near new.
    There is beauty in simplicity.

Have used DWI a lot (probably $10k worth of purchases). They're good in that they try to dodge the customs import duty for you by putting a receipt in the box for under $1000 and email you the right one. But bad when you get caught out and you have to pay customs 10%... happened to me when I bought my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II. I guess the guy at customs new a bit about lenses!

The 70-200 2.8 II should be in the Canon Loyalty Program. You could check that out for a further discount. All the best.
