Sometimes a family portrait can be set in a non traditional way. All shot with Canon gear including a ST-E2 and a EX580 through a small softbox.

On other occasions, props can make a dramatic impact on the portrait.

I couldn't pick just one so here are 2 of my favorites.

    Canon 1Ds Mark III, 85mm 1.2 II @ f2, ISO 200, 1/1000, off camera fill flash

    Canon 1Ds Mark III, 85mm 1.2 II @ f1.4, ISO 100, 1/125, fill flash

I love the 85mm Mark II lens. Whenever I'm doing portrait photography it's on my camera.

My girlfriend and I were goofing around at the miniature golf course. I had my 40D with a plastic EF50mm f1.8II lens, and a 430EX II flash. Av mode with a -0.33 EV, ISO 400, f/2.8, 1/25th second, hand held. Here's the
    result:

    Canon 20D using a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II. 50mm, f/2.5,1/800, ISO 100, no flash.

A remote shutter release would have been nice for this. (Its actually me in the picture, yeah self timer!) Anyone know anything about the $5-$18 remote releases from like China on ebay?
