    82MM FIlters

I bought the canon 16-35mm 2.8/f USM 2, and was wondering if any one knew any recommondations on brands for a Polarizing filter? B+W vs. Hoya or Canon? Is the Schneider one worth the 260$?

I have three B&W filters (2 UV Haze, 1 ND filter), and they're as perfect as they can get. I once purchased a Tiffen ND filter, and I couldn't take a sharp picture with it no matter what I did. In my opinion, you shouldn't put an inferior filter an a superior lens. Bryan uses B&W filters...doesn't that tell you enough? ;-)

    Perfect, Thanks. B&W it is.

The problem I have with Hoya is that they are a nightmare to clean. Almost impossible to get clean

Totally Agree, otherwise I don't notice any IQ issues

According to Bryan's review, you might need to get a slim one to avoid vignetting on a FFB... also keep that in mind

I actually use a Hoya filter for my 16-35 and I love it. I have no
issues with cleaning it - so I dont know about the cleaning issues
    others have mentioned.

Joseph Wisniewski, a knowledgeable photographer (and camera designer), says that the coatings on B+W and Hoya filters (such as MRC, or Multi-Resistant Coating) really *do* keep them safer and make them easier to clean than the coatings on other brands.

You can read more of his advice in the The Filters We Need With Digital thread on DPReview, which I think has a lot of great information.
