Fun topic --- great idea! This is my favourite stick photo, a snowy owl east of Calgary:

I cannot always get out and shoot something specifically for an assignment, but I actually left work before the sunset yesterday so I was able to get out to shoot something I had in mind for this assignment (although the sun was already down before I got there). The first one will be my entery. This will replace the waterfall I entered earlier from my archives.

This is an old break wall along Lake Michigan used to control erosion. It has now weathered and worn into a bunch of sticks sticking up in the sunset over Lake Michigan.

I also got a late start yesterday and was able to get a shot of the sunrise in the sticks on the way to work.

Wow, both those are excellent. Did you use a flash or anything for the first one?

you guys are killing this assignment! too many good ones to choose already...Have a great weekend. I'm off to Big Sur on the California coast to see if I can find some scenery to add to the list of growing images! Happy thanksgiving to all and if you're not celebrating it, promise to overeat at least once this week to catch up with me. Erno

Thanks... I used a Grad ND filter, and then used a small LED flashlight to paint a little extra light on the "sticks" during the 30 second shutter time.

I am again going to visit the way back machine and add one from last winter and one from 2005 (using a Kodak of all things).
    1. (entry) if your not careful, it'll stick you

    2. this one is from the country side by my family farm. Sticks holding more prickly things. I recently dug out some old photos for a project and reworked them.

3 and sticks holding wires that will shock you

Firstly, well done on winning the last assignment Erno. Good luck picking the finalists for this one, I don't envy you the task.

Here's my entry, a matchstick being lit by my gas hob:

And one from the archives, a coal transporter assembled from sticks.

Couldn't have said it better. There's a shot I want to take, but I know I just don't have the experience to compete with all the entries just this far!
