    Bonham Festival of Flight 2012

Had the good fortune to attend a small fly-in down in Bonham Texas a few weeks ago with perfect weather to practice aviation related shots with my new camera. The good folks that organized the fly-in did an outstanding job and plan on making it an annual affair, so make plans now for next year if you live anywhere around there. I only had my 24-105mm lens with me, so all of the shots are with that lens. I was super lucky to meet up with some outstanding northern Texas aviation photographers who allowed me to observe, ask a few questions and learn a ton of stuff. A truly stellar day!

As you can see in some of the shots, I've also been playing around a bit with some post processing enhancements using Nik Color Efex Pro. Not completely sold on that type of thing yet, but haven't learned enough about it to decide for sure.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos and there are more from that day on my Flickr page

Nice images. Looks like you had a great day. And, yes!! Prop blur on moving airplanes. Many people use too high of a shutter speed and it looks strange. I like the post, but maybe a little heavy on the images 2 and 5 with a halo effect kicking in.

It looks like it would have been a fun air show.
I think I like the 4th one best. I guess I like that gritty look on a war plane.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yes, it was an awesome show far exceeding my expectations. I was expecting a small fly-in with a few civilian aircraft and maybe a T-6 or two. Turned out to be so much more. The folks of Bonham really did a great job, best small airshow I attended last year.
