    silver dollarpic HOW?

IN THE REVIEW OF THE NEW 24-70 F4IS, there is a shot of a silver dollar on a black background. It appears that the coin is see-through. How was that picture taken. Thanks

I believe that it's an "optical illusion". I believe the coin is very shiny and is just reflecting the black material he used for the photo. I could be wrong though and am interested to read what others think as well.

James is correct. "Proof" coins are extremely reflective - mirror-like. The shots were very simple to take. The coin is sitting (angled toward me) on black velor fabric. A speedlite fired into a small softbox provided the light. Reflections of darkness took care of the rest.
