You'll represent me for how much!?

I received this email below from Agora Gallery in New York. Has anyone ever heard of them? Flattering to say the least!

    Dear Denise,

    Greetings from Agora Gallery!

I came across your photography on your website dtrociophotography.com while I was doing research online. I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to our gallery, and inform you of our bi-annual exhibition of analog and digital fine art photography, Altered States of Reality - http://www.agora-gallery.com/catalog...4_19_2012.aspx

Agora Gallery has been in business since 1984 and is located in the heart of New York’s famous art district, Chelsea. A well-established gallery, we provide promotional services to talented artists such as yourself, for which we charge an 18 month promotional fee.

Agora Gallery is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau of New York, and has also been named one of the top six contemporary galleries in New York by CBS - http://newyork.cbslocal.com/top-list...s-in-new-york/

For more information about gallery representation and our services, or to submit your portfolio for review, please visit http://www.agora-gallery.com/artisti...sentation.aspx

Do feel free to get in touch with me personally to discuss any questions you may have. You can email me jati@agora-gallery.com or call me directly at the extension provided below.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

So, I looked at their website ...$3850 to represent me with 6 easy installments of $710 each! What a deal! Yeah, I'll get right on this once I win tonight's $600 Million lottery!

In case anyone else receives an email like this, make sure you read these comments in the link below ...

That's the starting price, which probably includes no art. You'll likely have to pay for prints, frames, canvases, etc., or opt for a higher priced option. Assuming they do a good job of selling their represented artists' work, it might be alright, but you're not in a position to take that gamble.

Yep, that is more than likely just the start of the fees. I wouldn't respond to this even if I was in a better financial situation to do so. The word "scam" just keeps coming to mind.

Thank you very much, Joel! I'm still hoping one of these days I will get a bunch of my shots printed and display them in the summer art fairs just to see what may come of it. I just can't believe they actually have people pay them this kind of money!
