How many of these do you recognize?

A good trip down memory lane for the former film buffs in our group:

    What's your score out of 17? I hit 9.

5, but mostly because my ex girlfriend went to school for photography and mainly used film. Otherwise it would be a 1 or 2

    7. I was fortunate enough to take a film photography course in high school, just before the boom began, otherwise, it would be much lower.

    13. I worked with photography and the darkroom all through high school. We had to learn about everything or I probably wouldn't know as many either. Teacher was really into this stuff. I still have some 110 in a box somewhere.

I got an 11, but to be honest, it's from my early days of transmission electron microscopy when I developed my own electron micrographs. If I just consider basic photography, I score a 5.

1: got a few of them (and a whole freezer full of 4x5)
2: got one (different brand though, full of Rollei Retro 100 atm, a 100' roll of FP4 is next)
    3: got one
4: recognise but haven't used it (should I show my non-digital-nerdliness and say I didn't know that was the photoshop icon?)
5: use one all the time.
6: I think my mum still might have some at her place...
7: no (what is that, a mirror lens?)
8: even got one in my 7D
    9&10: I wish.
    11&12: no
13&14: still got them around somewhere...
15&16: looking to buy, anyone know where to get them?
    17: wearing them right now...
An awful lot of electrons were terribly inconvenienced in the making of this post.

I don't know how old you feel, but I am certainly old by these standards.

I was just reading about the Red Dragon video camera - 18 megapixel 15 stops of dynamic range 60 fps full res, 300 at "HD"

I worked w/ a little as in VERY little 35mm cine camera in 1976-8 - the idea of shifting from 24 fps to 100 to 300 changing iso (asa then) oh hoot and howl Even a timelapse was an effort compared to todays methods.

Space/weight of a couple of terabyte drives vs. how much 35mm film hee hee hee hee.

I haven't done the "cost of inflation" but something tells me the "top of the line" in 1976 and now are inflation adjusted pretty close. Just huge difference in capabilities and cost of "supplies"

Oh and never mind post production

I just think all this stuff is cool, that we can with a click of mouse share a wonderful image anywhere in the world.... even if it isn't Assignment week 8

Let us celebrate the wonderful ways we can no share expressions, images and occasional art.

    Mike
