Thank you! This is a photo of a rose from my garden. I used the "quick selection tool" in CS6 to remove the rest of the rose bush and used a painterly texture by French Kiss set at normal blending mode for the background. I believe I also added another layer of the texture over the entire image at very low opacity with a soft light blending mode.
Landscape... "Out to Sea"

This is an image that I took almost a year ago, but recently learned how to use Adobe Camera Raw to process HDR shots to look much more realistic than what I've been able to do with Photomatix. So, I gave it a try on the set of shots that went into this pic. Here's the result, an old but new landscape.

Well, it looks like it's time for me to pick my winners, and it was no easy task. Everyone had great entries, but in the end, I decided to go with Jonathan's gorgeous shot of this months meteor shower, "Perseids Over Canmore" and Steve's extremely well executed self portrait, "Why Worry"
Once again, great entries by all of you, I had a fun time judging this. On to the next week!
Congrats Jonathan and Steve....well done!
Thank you David, very astute judging. lol. If you haven't noticed, I'm trying to give everyone a go at judging, so we all get to experience the pressure, but more importantly we see a nice cross section of images presented in the monthly vote.
Congrats Jonathan.
Week#10 is up and running and please cast your vote if you haven't already in the image of the month#2.
