    Image of the Week...Week#10

Entry period will be from Sunday to Sunday, with this week closing on the 25th August.
Only two categories; Portrait and Landscape
Portrait- Anything with eyes, people, animals
Landscape- Country, town, city, sea, abstract, things (water drops, smoke, flowers, candles and so on)

Each category will have a winner each week and this week judged hopefully by Pat Conroy. Pat has a broad skill range and I think he has mastered everything from macro to landscape.

Then a poll to sort out monthly winners.

Please supply a title for your image and what category you are entering in. Enter as many times as like, old or new images.
Start posting your new shots here.

The 'Three Sisters' are the iconic peaks for the town of Canmore, and you can find photos of them in all the tourist brochures. I've wanted to get my own shot of the peaks, but from a view that I haven't seen done before. I figured this small creek would offer a reflection opportunity, so a few days ago I whacked my way through the bush alongside the creek, until lo and behold, I found a perfect view. When tonight's sunset looked promising, I came back for the shot.

I just shot this one a couple of days ago, so here is my landscape entry entitled:

In the Folsom foothills of California, summertime rarely brings cloudy sunsets. So with skies like this, it's time to grab the gear, hit the winding road leading to a favorite place, and take in this colorful treat.

This has been a photo in waiting all summer. I have a son that is very into roller coasters, but this track ride has been closed all summer and there isn't another way to get both of his favorites in a photo without being there. We finally were able to ride at the end of the day which turned out to be perfect with the sun. I had to use one shot into an HDR to get all of the detail back that I needed. Took this with the EOS M and the 18-55mm Kit lens.
