    Assignment #53 - Abandoned Things

On behalf of Assignment #52 winner Jonathan Huyer this is Assignment #53 - Abandoned Things

    As described by Jonathan:

It can be anything from old buildings (inside or outside), cars, or even macro shots of interesting junk. Here are a few examples:

UPDATE: Below are the narrowed down finalists chosen by Jonathan Huyer (with comments):

"Old Barn" by Jayson: Striking image, interesting juxtaposition between bright sunny day and old structures. Sharp contrast and effective use of black & white.

"Long Forgotten Campsite" by CLS: The image evokes emotions in the viewer, perhaps feelings of melancholy, reminscent of fun days gone by.

"Deterioration" by Neuro: Stark and dramatic image that can easily make you gasp. Very effective use of black & white. The long hallway makes you think of the very long years spent here by inmates.

"Alaska 2013" by Clemmb: Nice sepia tone, great panorama. The picture tells a complete story of a town that was once thriving.

The Polls will be open through the end of Sunday October 20th (EDIT--Polls will close Wednesday, 10/23, morning).

    Good luck to everyone.

Here is an old rail car mounted steam crane. I will enter the first one, but I included the second shot just so you can see some of the levers and valves it took to operate one of these things. They are both single shot HDR's.

The submission period has 2 more weeks.

I hope to get out and shoot something original...but in case I don't get the time, below is one of my favorite old barns.

What a great juxtaposition you do have a sense of humor.

It's actually not too far off though, they moved from a very unique custom designed glass building on the waterfront to this building they share with a movie theater in an industrial district. They only have about 60 employees now.

Hi, this is a photo from a vacation trip this summer. Not too many years ago this was a popular camping site. To the left there's the door to the ladies' shower room, and in the background there's some dishwashing sinks. I suppose the bench in the foreground was used for some hanging out with fellow campers.

Hi Everyone....I just wanted to bump this assignment. Submission period is closes after this Sunday. So find something abandoned, discarded, unused, and otherwise unwanted and take a great picture of it to be posted by Sunday. Good luck....
