    Fine Tune Auto Focus

    Ok im back again ;-)

This time im wanting to try and fine tune my auto focus, I only have the Canon 1100D so not sure if possible as it's only a bobby basic beginners camera, also the 18-55 lens that came with the camera seems fine its mainly my Sigma 70-300 thats quite a way out, could it be the lens that's out or could it be the camera affecting it?

Hi, "real" tuning of the AF is done by the manufacturer's service workshops, but some Canon DSLRs have an AFMA (auto focus micro adjustment) feature that - if one's lucky - could be sufficient to compensate for minor AF issues. However your 1100D doesn't have this feature.

Since your camera and the kit lens seem to work fine together it's likely the Sigma lens that's a bit off (and my limited Sigma experience isn't too positive regarding AF accuracy).

As I see it there are a few options:
    - If the lens is new, return it and let them send you a proper one.
    - If it's not new but still under warranty - claim a warranty repair.
    - Otherwise you could send it for a service and pay yourself. (I have no idea where Sigma's nearest service location is in Sunderland or what the cost would be.)

    Good luck!

I will call to my local camera shop and enquire about service/repair
