Thanks Stuart --- I have an incredibly unfair advantage, living out here. The scenery options are absolutely endless.

I agree with the unfair advantage. I'd like to propose that Jonathan be banned from participating in the landscape portion of these contests

Seriously though, absolutely unreal shot. Blows my mind.

....bu...bu...but....then how would we see his photos? Beside, look at it another way....it's not like we should expect to see too many lighthouse photos from Jonathan....

Totally captivating Jonathan, is this only one exposure?

Thanks everyone - I definitely credit all of you for inspiring me with your great photos. I need to work hard to keep up with this group! And yes you're not likely to see a lighthouse photo anytime soon from me.

Steve -Yes this is one exposure. I used a 2-stop soft edge ND grad, and a 5-stop solid ND to give a 60-second exposure. In Lightroom I darkened the sky about another half stop to give it the balance I wanted.

Landscape: "The Milky Way Over Silver Lake"
Taken last night. You can see the sand dunes along Lake Michigan reflecting off Silver Lake.

Wow, definately some great entries so far this week! Here is one landscape and one portrait from me. Both taken on a recent trip to Boston.
