Thanks chaps. I like that the pigeon's tail mimics the suitcase being dragged behind the woman.

Just curious, are most people taking picture on Camera in B&W or converting in post?

I do all mine in post and use Nik, I find it very user friendly.

Mine are all in post. I just use Lightroom.

I'm trying to steer away from doing too much in B&W though, I found I was ignoring colours when out shooting.

I'm still steering towards a bit of B&W.
Here is a busker down at Wellington Point. He was pretty cool, name a song, or an artist and he would start singing.

Went to a local heritage site this weekend (Fort Edmonton Park), thought I'd come out with a bunch of pictures suitable for black and white, however Rain kept the 'interpreters' (period costumed staff) inside. So ended up taking pictures of my nieces for 90% of the shots.

Anyway here is a shot I dashed outside to get while no one was in the way and the rain paused..

Unfortunately I wasn't paying enough attention and severely overexposed it.

    ISO: 100
    Exposure: 1/15 sec
    Aperture: 4.5
    Focal Length: 10mm

Instead of deleting it I decided to see what I could do with it.
    and here is the result

Not a great save, but now it resembles a picture taken from the mid to late 1800s the same timeline as the fort.

I think it's a great save. Did you shoot in RAW?

Thank you, Yes I now have camera set to just RAW.

Only the one shot before others dashed between buildings

I played with my free software goodies to see what I could do.

I took it into DPP adjusted brightness down, minimized highlights, maximized shadows. But picture still was washed out.
From there I went into picasa, straightend it slightly, changed to B+W - still kinda dull clicked edit in picnik (think it's for kids, you can add fake beards, tiaras, crowns, misc clip art, speech bubbles, etc..)
Brought the black back into the picture and added some contrast, then back to picasa to add the vignette.
