2014 Image of the Week - #8

This entry period for Week 8 will be from Monday February 17th to Sunday February 23rd.

Only two categories of images will be judged:

1. Portraits -- Anything with eyes; people or animals
2. Landscape -- Country, town, city, sea, abstract, things (water drops, smoke, flowers, candles, and so on)

Each category will have a single winner each week. This week will be judged by Pierre (Tounis).

Please supply a title for your image and which category it is entering. Enter as many times as you would like, old or new images.

I had some fun with the kids during the last really cold day. It wasn't cold enough to get them flying, but leave them on the wand for a minute and you got some interesting patterns.

Portrait - Pandas in the Snow

Some great entries everyone. Owls trapped at Logan International Airport (Boston) are released south of Boston early in the season and north of Boston, at Parker River NWR later in the season. BillW gave me a tip that they were going to release one on Saturday. So, I was able to see one up close....

Great pictures everyone ! I think it's time to announce the winners. Both categories were close, as I liked pretty much every picture you posted.

The Landscape winner is "Bubbles" by Jayson. As Brant said, that's a great concept and I liked the structure of the bubble and the colors.

The Portrait winner is "These Eyes" by Kayaker72. It's very difficult to see owls outside of a zoo around here, and it's a wonderful animal. Great catch.
