Which lens do you plan on getting next, if any?

- Sigma 35mm f1.4 art

Well, now that the legendary beast is finally announced, i guess the 100-400mm II is next on my list.

My own current setup:
- 6D
- 16-35mm f/4 IS (my most recent purchase)
- 24-105mm f/4 IS
- 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS
- 24-70 f/2.8 II
- 100mm L f/2.8 Macro
- A set of primes: 50mm f/14, 85mm f/1.8, 135mm f/2 L, 200mm f/2.8 L, 400mm f/5.6 L

Purchase plans:
- A second 6D body (when there's a good sale).
- 100-400mm II (whenever it comes out).

Later wishlist:
- Maybe a 1.4x TC.
- A Tilt-shift lens or two would be nice.
- Maybe a wide-angle prime?
- Maybe the rumored 11-24?

I briefly bought a 24-70 f/4 IS, but then returned it due to annoying focus-shift issues. Maybe i'll buy another copy someday.

I'm at a point where I am realizing my GAS is slowing me down. What I really need is to learn, so I have been investing my money in classes and workshops. So far that is improving my results MUCH MORE than any new lens. Now as long as I don't drown in my own drool over the new 100-400 L II IS I'll be OK.

I didn't fully expect it, but 2013/2014 turned into a bit of a year of upheaval for my kit. But I can feel it settling down. I am still working out the extreme telephoto side (BIF, etc) as I think I want something beyond 400 mm on FF.

So, my next purchases are:

• "Super" telephoto (undecided on which one)

• Then, the list of "maybe" purchases:
  
  • TSE 24 mm
  • 16-35 f/4 IS
  • Another 600 EX RT

After that, it really would be items that I am not sure I need. For example, I have always wanted the 135 f/2 and been intrigued by the 85 f/1.2. But, I am not sure I need either given I have the 70-200 f/2.8 II and uber thin DoF may not fit my skill level or shooting style. I would like a 20-24 mm f/1.4-2. But I am pretty content with the 24-70 f/2.8 and Rokinon 14 mm f/2.8 for nightscapes. If a new lens came out that was sharp at f/1.4, that may change my opinion and move that lens up the list.

So, I am already planning on taking the money I usually spend on GAS and doing something similar to what you describe. Maybe a photo class or two or a guided destination photo shoot. That is probably later 2015 or 2016. First, I do want to find something affordable in the supertelephoto range.

Next lens, without a doubt – EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM

I'm having a blast with the Canon EOS 7D Mark II. The small, cheap 24mm lens is a perfect fit for the body when it comes to video capture.

After that, a Tilt-Shift, maybe....

Well, now that it is formally announced, looks like I will be getting the 100-400L II. I will eventually get that 70-200L IS II though.

Still waiting to see if Samyang gives a date for their new fisheye...

Yea that new 100-400 looks tempting. I was thinking the Sigma 150-600 might be in my future, but now I will have to wait and see those two compared.

But first I need a wider option than my Sigma 50 Art. I'm really loving shooting with a prime, so I'm debating between the 16-35 f/4L or a wide prime (I'd love a Sigma 24 Art if they would release that). I think the TS-E 24mm L would be a really fun lens to have, but not sure how practical it would be as my only wide option.

For now I still have the T2i + 17-55 f/2.8 if I really need to shoot wider than 50 on the 5DIII.

Pre-ordered the 100-400 today...looks like it is going to be a solid performer for my needs...family/kids sports and occasional wildlife..

600 II is on my wish list, but cannot justify it to myself yet...
