    Hi Rick,

I have never been to Japan. As it is on my list, I would be interested in your pics/recommendations/impressions.

A few links that you may have already seen:

This trip I am seriously thinking about just taking the wife's M5, or possibly buying an M6.

The majority of the pictures will be memory tourist pictures.
If I take the 5DsR I think the 35mm f1.4L will be the go to.
Maybe pick up a 50mm or the two pancakes.

There is something to be said for traveling light this trip, especially since we will be traveling by rail everywhere we choose to go.

Of course, it all depends on how small you want to go and what you are going to need the cameras for. This is why I have my FF (primary) kit, my M3 kit, G7XII and even the phone camera. Having the best camera system that you want to carry with you wherever you are going is a very nice convenience.

I have been impressed with the IQ coming from my M3, especially with the 11-22 mounted on it, but the other lenses aren't bad at all. I will say, I haven't like the flair when shooting into bright lights with some of the M lenses. But definitely capable of some excellent pictures.
